It's raining on my parade, Charlie Brown

Do you ever have months where everything seems to go wrong? Where anything you touch turns to dust ? May '06 is turning out to bethat cursed month so far for me.. and only a third of the days are over.
Well, my job is now delayed for reasons unknown, the original flat I had planned to stay in has been taken over by Yenepoya to be used as a girls' hostel of sorts,2 ex-roommates are all leaving after finally finishing their internship.. oh ya!! and crap movies playing at the multiplex this week.

Anyway, since everything's going down the drain, it's kinda ironical that the movies I saw all dealt with water.
POSEIDON is supposed to be a remake of survivors of a ship struck by a rogue wave. I was a bit hesitant to go for this as the theme didn't particularly catch my fancy. I'm not a big fan of ships after watching Titanic ( sorry, I'm not much of a fan ). Well, as always, I was proved wrong. I really enjoyed the movie which never lacks pace..and water!! Unlike Titanic which delayed sinking till 2 hours into the movie, Poseidon's vertical journey begins within 20 minutes of the start. From then on in, it's just one adrenaline sequence after another as the few survivors try to get out from the bottom of the ship..which, incidentally, is now the top. The graphics are top notch especially "the wave striking the ship" sequence and the opening sequence which is just a single shot of the entire ship..wow!!
ICE AGE 2 was cute. I don't know. I was expecting more honestly. It's funny, no doubt, but not enough at times. Somehow i felt the 1st part was better. Maybe it's just me. Also while some sequences were a visual treat, there were some garish graphics too involving the ice that really looked atleast 8 years too old as far as graphics go.

Regarding the picture in this article..well, that's the first pics of M. Night Shyamalan's "LADY IN THE WATER" due in a few months. Personally, I've felt that his standard has been steadily declining.. which is why viewing the latest trailor was a treat. Mr Shyamalan seems to have done a bit of re-inventing..quite a bit actually. I wonder if this movie will have his twist in the tale, but the first trailor promises a lot more action, a visible villain or bunch of them and most importantly, some good old fear factor. Here's keeping my fingers crossed. Lady Luck just ain't my pal these days.
