White hairs...

12 hours of studying a day. And that's just one day. Man, am I brain-dead. It's been so long since these texts and myself have been acquainted , the words are pure gibberish. And yet, I have to keep at it if I want to get anywhere. It's really really boring having to re-read old texts again..only this time I'm seeking the "hidden knowledge." The small values suddenly are the more important.. Nobody wants the basics like "Hey, whose urethra is bigger, male or female?" Now, it's all about -"What is the length of the membraneous part of the male urethra?"
No more "What makes the portal triad?", now it's "In the portal triad,is the hepatic artery anterior/superior/inferior/posterior to portal vein?"
That's the difference.. my and other drs future now depends on memory - remembering numbers, directions, chemical structures, statistics. Boy! What a time for my magical "crap-trivia-memory" to be going in second gear! Atleast I've got a time table set by which I'll be ready to write these exams with some hope ( SOME, i repeat, SOME!!!!!) by December. Of course, that involves a time table of 15 hours of study a day, revising at the end of the day(not included in 15 hours) and praying that that's the crap statistic that comes 6 months from now.
The World Cup hasn't helped my schedule any, though there have been some brilliant matches that have gone down to the wire.
Ha!! What I wouldn't do to go back 10 years and read geography and history again.
Music - that's the other elixir. Presently, my tunes of choice remain "Tumse yuh mile te" from Ankahee (Such a beautiful number) and "Tu hi mere" from Gangster. English songs..well, I'm still in love with that classy "She will be loved- Maroon 5" and some of Cold play's numbers I come across.
I used to wonder whether all the good tunes were used up..I mean music has been there forever and yet, people come up with something new, something beautiful, something classy ( umm..classy like "Doncha wish your girlfriend.." by Pussy cat dolls :) ) Movies? Well, not many good ones due - M I :3 was nice. I guess better than its predecessors. But that's it. The news that "Tom, Dick and Harry" made its money back has made me realise that sometimes, if you do stuff really badly, it ends up being "SO BAD, IT'S GOOD." If only that were applicable to surgeons!! Net-breaks have been mainly to add crap to my blog, the latest being the WORLD MAP GUESTBOOK on the top left corner, where you guys just pin yourselves on the map and add a comment for it to register on the map).
Today also happens to be my buddy,Priya's birthday. She was my lab partner throughout college and a worthy foil to most of my pranks and vice versa. She's now got a new role - mother!! She's a mommy since the last week and the thought of her as a mom , more than anything else, has scared me about how old we've gotten. The odd white hairs ( 101 is odd, right?) on my head were an early reminder, friends like The Lost Wanderer ( $#@%$^) telling me he's been working for 4 years were a mild shock revealing my blind spot, the fact that ALL the models in the beauty pageants are atleast 4 years YOUNGER than me was scary.. but this is huge. I'm still picturing a bubbly, hilarious girl I used to have lunch with for over 2 years( a dal fry and single shared chapatis with Poorni) while deciding where to go after bunking afternoon class with the gang, the tricks we used for copying in internals, the funky cultural dances, the advise on things irrelevant but nonetheless, important. She's a mom. A kid with a kid ? Nope, we grew old somewhere in between these years and she's now truly "a woman with a child". Wow!!! And I'm old... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!
No more shock revelations, this week please, Mr God!!! I'm way too old for any more "BOOs"!!
