Railonama - An anthology

There are a few short stories of mine coming out in the next couple of months in what is proving to be a very industrious year for my "Published stories" page.

Railonama by Good Times Books publishers and edited by Anupama Sharma breaks away from the rather overdone 'love story anthology' and gives the reader something pretty unique to ponder upon as they pore through its pages. Anupama, the co-founder of pickafight.in, has compiled a collection of short stories based on the one platform (no pun intended, I swear!) that has at one time or the other been a part of our lives and held some significant memory to us all: The Indian Railways. Be prepared to see it all - from greetings to farewells and musings to momentous events and how they affected the individual authors.

Railonama chronicles the stories and real life experiences of not just Indians but people from all across the globe who have traveled via the Indian trains. Considering it is one of the world's largest railway networks with over 115,000 kms of track laid down and a 160 years of service, there were bound to be some really fond memories and 'slice of life' tales which people have experienced, I reckon.

My own story within the book is based on a real life incident from a few years ago and features a young boy stuck in a train compartment with a whole bunch of older people (myself included), all lost in our own worlds. The rest of the events of that evening would involve a young girl, a coloring book, a mother-in-law, the dreaded regional television serials... and some chocolate eclairs.

Railonama officially begins its journey (okay, okay... that pun was intended) this weekend.
