Frodo: “What are we holding onto, Sam?” Sam: “That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for.” - The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

Frodo: “What are we holding onto, Sam?”
Sam: “That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for.”
 - The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

More relevant in today's world than it has been for decades.
More essential that people remember these words as well and hold on.

Totally agree! With so much negativity and suspicion around, its necessary to remember to see good in others.

True that!! With so much darkness and negativity, there is goodness around us too and we must preserve and nurture it!!

So true! I always teach my girls to see positive in other people cos if we see only negatives, we can not be happy ourselves. Its easier said than done but we can try.

Love this share. We really need this. We need to hold on to the good things before they too disappear.
Need to force ourselves nowadays but as you said, it is necessary
Also showcase it, I feel.
Its tough but we cannot allow the next generation too to grow in an atmosphere of hate
So true.. scary though

We have no choice but to be positive because despairing now would be suicidal.

A good reminder to hold on to the good things, even more so in the current perspective. Also, that 'it is worth fighting for'. Each of us in our own small way need to put up a resistance to all that's wrong around us.
A deep truth behind this and it also makes me sad .Loved how you made us close to tears even with this post!
It's a simple thought. But we do need to keep reminding ourselves of it
Exactly. So many this year have really reached the dark end of despair. It's just been that kind of year
I think that needs to be said. Even the smallest resistance to the darkness matters
Thanks Amrita. Sad reality of life today.

Eternal hope is one of our best strengths to get by in this world where everyday horrors unfold with such regularity. All the best with the ALexa Doc

TBH, I was surprised at the length of the post and also thought, what's this, just a dialogue from a movie. But, then after reading again, I realized though the post is short, it goes deep. This is just so true. The dialogue is like the silver lining to a cloud, like the burning candle when it's dark everywhere. we must, despite the negativity and harshness around, always push ourselves to look for the good in something and everything. Yes, it is difficult I accept, but then we can do it. :) Thanks for the post, it did make me think. Cheers!
