Newlyweds gift money to wedding guests... to buy toys for needy children

Immediately after Brad and Jessica Bond got married, they did something that they had first done together on their first date years ago... they went and bought toys.

A tradition in Brad's family, he used to participate in the Toys for Tots program, run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve that distributes toys to children who cannot afford them.

What made it extra special on this wedding day was that the Florida couple also went ahead and gave every one of their wedding guests a gift card worth $10 to buy toys for the program. Most of the guests were amused and thought it was a prank... until vans started to turn up at the wedding to carry all the guests to the shopping mall!

In the end, everyone, including the bride still in her wedding gown, had a jolly good time buying toys with most guests buying above the $10 limit and donating to the children.

Immediately after they got married, the couple did something that they had first done together on their first date years ago.

“It was a great experience. So many of the guests said it was something they planned to continue doing with their children, which was the goal - to see that good in people.”
- Brad Bond, bridegroom

  2. How sweet! Thankfully these days in India too I see some weddings not asking for gifts and asking for a donation to charity instead. The change is small, but glad to see it.
