The ones who never get applauded

A scene I witnessed while waiting
at the railway station

That auto driver is not Neymar or Messi.
He is not Modi or Rahul.
He is not a superstar and will never feature in any newspaper.

He is, however, the only auto driver who stopped to help an old man struggling to walk who had been trying unsuccessfully to hail an auto rickshaw (at an auto stand, no less). Unlike the other drivers who felt it would be too much of a burden for them to make an extra effort for an old man with a walker, this guy got down, helped lift the old man into his rickshaw and then placed the walker on his own side so that the old man could sit more comfortably.

My hometown is usually associated with violence. It feels good to see random acts of kindness as well.

    1. True.. even though there are so many topics in everyday life that I want to talk about, I dont want to put them in the blog cos they can be depressing in content. This, in comparison, is uplifting.

Such acts (done, told, retold, shared etc.) definitely spread positivism around, and eventually will become the trend to follow...thanks for sharing :)

    1. exactly what I feel... we need to share more stories of kindness rather than focus on all the negativity that we get at any rate from the newspapers...

  7. It is good to witness goodness which is not playing to the crowds. It is even better to see someone bothering to document it, and in doing so, perhaps inspiring someone to follow suit.

  9. There is still goodness in this world...One is the act of the autodriver and the other is that of the person who had the eyes to see and appreciate it !

    1. My role is minimal... it takes a good mind to stop and do this much when he could have just driven past and searched for a wealthier client

    1. I really have no contacts with local newspaper staff .. somehow I doubt that they would care for such gestures too. Call me cynical but I just feel that way...

  14. Once an auto guy dropped my grand dad home, when he suddenly felt blank and was unable remember anything. We were all touched by his kindness; somebody actually took pains to find out our house and dropped him home safe!! And this too happened in kannur. :) r

  16. Kudos first to the auto-driver and to you for highlighting this. Always felt we obsess about all the negatives around us and ignore the positives.
