How to Choose The Best Mattress for Your Bed?

Sleep plays a very important role in good health and well-being. The human body is conditioned to function perfectly only when it gets enough quality sleep at the right time. You can have the luxury of quality sleep only when you have a comfortable mattress to support your body. It is extremely important to invest some time in deciding the right mattress. You can get more information here to help make an informed choice about adjustable beds.

Once you are in a store, the variety and range of mattress prices will make it difficult for you to reach any decision.

Here are some of the factors to consider while planning to buy a mattress at the best price to match your bed and body:

Factors to Consider While Buying A Mattress

For a healthy mind, body, and soul an average adult should sleep for at least 7 to 8 hours. Technically we spend one-third of our life in sleeping to utilize the remaining two-third efficiently and effectively. Your mattress helps you get a sound sleep so that you could feel refreshed and recharged.

Factors to Consider While Buying A Mattress

You need to consider several things while buying a mattress. Here are some of the important aspects that need consideration:

1.  Time Matters

If you wake up in the morning with stiffness or pain, then it is time for you to change your mattress. The rule is simple, the mattress has its own life of comfort. You simply cannot use it forever.

According to the Sleep Council, you need to change your mattress once in seven years. During this period, the mattress must have given you over 20,000 hours of sleep. The best way to judge the status of your mattress is that you will find another bed more comfortable for sleep.

2.  Size Matters

The quality of sleep also depends on factors like the space you have in bed so that you don’t get disturbed by a partner.

The rule is simple: if you share your bed, then buy a bed that is big enough to give you undisturbed sleep. The fact is, your 135 cm wide double bed isn’t enough. You will experience a huge difference if you upgrade it to king-size of 150 cm. Of course, you need to keep the bed price lists and your room size in mind. Keep the bed frame in mind as you need to match the size of the mattress.

3.  Mattress Type

You need to decide what type of mattress you want. Experts are of the view that one should not change the type frequently, as the body takes time to adjust to the new material and softness.

  • If you want a bouncy and springy feeling, then you can opt for the traditional pocket sprung mattress.
  • If you don’t like them too springy, then you can buy a memory foam mattress as these are relatively stable. It adjusts to the shape of your body, meaning you won’t get disturbed at night by the mobility of your partner.
  • If you are looking for a balance of both springiness and molding, then lets mattress is best for you. This is relatively more durable. There are several other options, but all involve different proportions of only these three types.

 4. Sleep Style

Your sleep style requires a different kind of support to give better comfort. So, try to find whether you are a side sleeper, front sleeper or back sleeper.
  • If you are a side sleeper, the springy pocket sprung mattress will suit you best.
  • If you are front sleeper then you will need a more supporting mattress like a memory foam mattress.
  • If you sleep on your back, you can opt for any of the mattresses.

Last but not least, if you are in the heavyweight category like me, do keep that factor in mind as well as you might need a mattress that supports your weight. Above all, you need to keep the mattress price in mind so that you could get the ultimate relaxation.

  2. And what about people who sleep in all three positions? Good tips here, as we need to change our mattress soon. It’s always a pain choosing the right mattress! Our last one was a latex mattress I think, but it’s too heavy, so we want something a bit lighter. Anyway...let me not ramble on here!

  3. Oh, it takes hell of a lot of time to get adjusted to a mattress. The one we have initially felt so good. But, when we got it home, slept on it, I woke up with a bad body ache. I feel our old-fashioned mattresses were better than the new-age ones that boast of whatnot! :)
    Thanks for this info, Roshan!
